This page explains how scented.ai uses cookies and similar technologies on our website (scented.ai). Our native iOS and Android applications do not use browser cookies.

Our website analytics are cookieless: we do not store analytics cookies or other analytics identifiers on your device, and we do not record your browsing sessions. We use one functional first-party cookie to run an A/B test of our landing page. We do not use cookies for advertising, cross-site tracking, or profiling.

What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, and to provide reporting information to site owners.

Cookies set by the website owner (in this case, scented.ai) are called "first-party cookies". Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called "third-party cookies". We do not set third-party cookies on our website.

Cookies and Similar Technologies We Use

Functional — landing page A/B test

We set a single first-party cookie, landing_variant, which stores only the letter a or b. It records which version of our landing page you were shown so that you see a consistent version if you return, and so we can compare how the two versions perform. It contains no personal data, is not shared with anyone, and is not used for tracking, advertising, or profiling. It expires after 14 days.

Legal basis: Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) — a short-lived, non-tracking cookie needed to deliver and measure a consistent website experience.

Cookieless analytics — no cookies

We use PostHog and Vercel Web Analytics to understand how visitors use our pages — such as page views, clicks, and navigation. Both run in cookieless mode: they do not read or write cookies or other identifiers on your device. Visitors are counted using a short-lived identifier derived on the server that cannot be used to recognise you across days or across other websites. We do not record browsing sessions on the website.

PostHog processes data exclusively on servers located within the EU and does not transfer your personal data outside the EEA. See posthog.com/privacy and vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy for details.

Legal basis: Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in understanding how the website is used. Because no information is stored on or read from your device for analytics, no consent is required for this processing.

Local storage — dismissing the privacy notice

When you dismiss the small privacy notice shown at the bottom of the page, your browser stores a single flag in local storage so the notice does not reappear. This flag stays in your browser, is never sent to us, and contains no personal data.

Managing Cookies

Because our analytics are cookieless, there is nothing to accept or decline, and the website does not show a cookie consent banner. You can still control cookies and local storage through your browser settings — most browsers let you block or delete them in their settings or preferences menu. Blocking the landing_variant cookie will not stop you from using the website; you may simply be shown a different version of the landing page on different visits.

None of this affects your use of the native Scented.ai mobile application.

Cookies and the Mobile App

Scented.ai's native iOS and Android applications do not use browser cookies. Within the native apps and on our server infrastructure, PostHog analytics does not set cookies — it operates using a server-side SDK that does not interact with your browser cookie storage.
